Safe charging procedure

Before using your eBike for the first time, carefully read the guidelines for safe battery charging and management.

The MAHLE M40 System includes an intelligent charging system that manages the internal battery charging. This system supplies the correct charging current and ensures the ideal balancing of the cells that make up the battery.

Use only the original charging system of the MAHLE M40 System. Both the charging system and the battery are fully qualified to be used under current regulations in the regions where the use of this system is approved.

Basic recommendations for charging the battery are as follows:

  • Connect the charging system directly to a power source and do not use extension cords.

  • Do not perform reverse charging.

  • Do not use the active charger with non-rechargeable batteries, as there is a risk of overheating and fire.

  • The active charger is not designed to charge car batteries.

  • Before each use, check that the charger, cable, and charging plug are not damaged.

  • Do not cover the charger during the charging process.

  • Regularly check the battery and never charge a battery that may be damaged or defective.

  • Ensure that the socket and plug are not wet or damp before connecting and charging the battery, a situation that may occur when washing the bicycle.

  • If the eBike or battery are excessively cold, wait until they warm up before charging the system.

  • Before the first use of the eBike, make sure the battery is fully charged.

WARNING

Flammable gases. Avoid open flames and sparks. Maintain adequate ventilation during charging. The charger is intended for indoor use only. Improper use of other batteries may cause explosions resulting in personal injury and property damage. Do not burn, disassemble or short-circuit batteries.
